TRAVEL INFORMATION

FRANCE

Aubeterre-sur-Dronne is one of France’s “Most Beautiful Villages,” perched on a hillside above the Dronne River. Highlights include the monolithic Église Saint-Jean—Europe’s largest underground church—and winding streets lined with cafés, artisan shops, and half-timbered houses. Enjoy a river beach for swimming, rent a canoe, or sip local wine in the charming village square. It’s the perfect spot to soak up authentic French countryside charm.

Getting there

By Air: The closest major airports are Bordeaux–Mérignac Airport (BOD), Bergerac Dordogne Périgord Airport (EGC), and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). From Paris, you can take a connecting flight to Bordeaux or Bergerac. Alternatively, you can travel by high-speed train or rent a car for a scenic drive to the château.

By Train: France has an extensive rail network. Major TGV stations near the region are in Angoulême, Bordeaux, or Périgueux. From there, you would likely rent a car or use a local taxi/shuttle service to reach the Château Saint Privat-des-Prés.

By Car: Renting a car is often the easiest way to explore the French countryside. If you plan on seeing more of the Dordogne region before or after the wedding, a car will give you flexibility to visit nearby villages and sights.

UKRAINE

The region of Slavs’ke, in Lviv Oblast, is renowned for its stunning mountain landscapes and rich traditional charm. Located about two and a half hours from Lviv—Ukraine’s largest city in the west and where much of Olga’s family is from—it offers the perfect backdrop for sharing the warmth and hospitality of the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains.

Due to flight restrictions at Lviv Danylo Halytskyi International Airport (LWO), travel will require flying into a neighboring country, likely Poland, and continuing overland to Lviv or directly to Slavs’ke. Once all final RSVPs are received, we will be able to provide more details. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, as we want to make this process as seamless as possible. Separately, we are considering organizing a special overland trip from France to Ukraine, with stops in one or two European cities along the way. This plan remains tentative and unconfirmed.
